"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."

-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

An Old (Rose) Soul

This rose has come a long way. (and not just in its looks) We got it from Sean's great great Aunt Olga who lives in Cisco. You see, it was part of a beautiful rose bush that's been in her yard for a long, long time. Her grandparents came to Texas from Alabama (the same county that my family's from!) many, many years ago and brought this darling little plant with them.

When Grandmommy brought it to us, it was just a bunch of thorny green branches. We did (and are doing) our best to keep it growing, and now it seems like it's warmed up and showing us its little personality!

I love feeling like I'm still connected to something from a hundred years ago! (and from the great state of my birth, Alabama)

Wowsers...you know I can't get over Miss Bluebonnet and Mr. Sun! Eat em up! Darn it, they're cute. Especially miss thang crossing her legs. Love the rose story (beautiful color) and I like anyone from Cisco...gotta love those tiny TX towns. Ranger is my fave...just next door to Cisco. Ranger is stompin grounds for the Watkins roots.

I love this! You know, I have 32 different antique rose varieties in my yard. I'm a little obsessed. I would love to be a rose rustler some day and work at the Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham.

What a great story!
