"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."

-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

Memorial Day

We had a beautiful, memorable Memorial day. We kicked it off with a swim date with the Hensleys on Saturday night. Here are Drew and Clark enjoying the kiddie pool:
Sunday night we went to a "Legacy Family Ministries" event at Whitehall park complete with bounce houses, waterslides, face painting, Double R burgers, and desserts from Simply Delicious. So much fun because so many of our friends were there! Here is AnnMarie with her good buddy, Caroline.
There was also an egg toss! Sean and Joseph came in third!
Clarky chowed down on a hot dog.
We also had snow cones! Our sweet friends Kimberly and Griffin:
But wait, there's more! AnnMarie took her first swing at a pinata, and I'm telling you, this girl may just need to get into Tball sooner than later!
phew! we were SwEaTy! Poor Clark's eczema was AWFUL.
On Monday we celebrated with the fam out at Mom and Dad's. AM had fun pushing B around!
And we sat around the kid pool in a redneck sort of way
Ah---it wouldn't be summer without icee pops
Hooray!
I did not let this weekend slip by without remembering WHY we were able to enjoy such a relaxing weekend with our families. Thank you to all who serve, all who've served, and all who will serve for us, the Americans who are safe because of you.

The End of a First

AnnMarie's first year of preschool is over! wow. I feel like I just got used to the idea of her being a "preschooler", and now we're one year down!
To celebrate, we had an End of Year party complete with water activites and outdoor snacks. (Popsicles! and the like) I mean, what else could be better?
Here they are going wild as soon as they got to the party spot:

My friend, Brooke, helped me put together these buckets for their snacks.

AnnMarie and her best buddy, Ella, made mud soup. ??? hmmm

Cutie little Wade. I just had to snap a picture of him giving the teachers his flowers. Speaking of teachers---I forgot to get pictures with Mrs. Conner and Mrs. Thompson! oops! Glad we got some when school started!

All the kids made their own "beach in a jar" to keep for the summer!

Things are going by faster and faster! I can't believe it's time for PreK. I'm so thankful you love school so much, AnnMarie! You had a wonderful year and were blessed with caring, excellent teachers! You have officially grown out of all things "baby" or "toddler". What a darling girl you have become. Now to PREpare for K-indergarten! :)

Clarky says Bye

Please excuse my drippy sweet "patty cake", but Clark said "bye" for the first time on cue the other day, and I happened to catch it on my phone!

I know he's mine, but I can't get enough of that squeezable ball of joy! :)

A Sunday kind of Mommy

Last week as we were checking out at the grocery store, AnnMarie points at a brunette on a magazine cover and says, "Hey, Mommy---that looks like you on Sundays."
Mommy thought, "What must I look like the rest of the week?" :)

Enjoying Spring

Just a few snapshots from our activities this spring. It's been a busy one!
Having a tea party with Gigi (and Samantha)Clark went to the zoo with his buddies Griffin and Mase to celebrate Mase's first birthday!! We had such a fun outing just with the boys!
Thanks to Mrs. Kimberly for snapping some pics for us!
Sweetheart...
It was extremely humid that day. Clarky had perfect ringlets! :)
Mama and son
AnnMarie had her first choir performance at church.
It was pretty low key since it was the first year (three year olds). She seems so "old" to me when we're at home, but when I look at this picture, they all look so young!
Now wouldn't this be a cute rehearsal dinner picture??? I would be just fine with this match up. :)

AnnMarie and Charley
We went to Midland and celebrated Sean's birthday with the SvobodasWe went to cousin Madison's dance recital. Scary costume? Yes, but it was a dance to Thriller!
(AnnMarie was a little nervous about being near her favorite cousin looking this way!)
(Iphone pic--sorry) Clarky tried to drive the golf cart with sweet big sister helping.
And the fun continues!

Sean's birthday

We celebrated Sean's birthday with a shrimp boil this year. (his request!---I felt kind of bad that he had to make his own birthday dinner, but he's the seafood chef at our house!) :)
Here's the feast:The bubbas played
Happy Birthday, Daddy Sean! We love you SO much. There isn't a better husband or daddy on the planet. Thank you for all you do for us!!!
And his other request? Clown cones.

(well, maybe not a "request", but just a mention in passing that I remembered!---and they were really easy to pick up) :)

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day I was treated to a special breakfast ("Muffins with Mom") with my sweet firstborn.
She gave me a beautiful rose and a most treasured homemade gift.
So sweet! I love carrying it every day. She told me she put lots of green because it's my favorite color. It's true!
She is such a darling girl! I thank the Lord everyday for such a precious angel.
And why was this Mother's Day especially special?
Because I had another chickie to add to my nest...

And there's never been a cuter, better baby! I just can't get enough snuggle time. :)

Thank you, Lord, for my two perfect blessings. Being a mother is what I'm most proud of!
