"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."

The Best Friends Ever

These girls (or the "Cracker Toffee 7" as we like to call ourselves---long story, nother post) :) are truly my best friends (I've known most of them since 7th grade when I hit the Waco scene) and all came to Waco to help Lauren and I celebrate our upcoming (well, we thought Clark was upcoming) babies.
Since I had just had Clark 3 days before, I had to miss out on some of the action :( (pedicure party, swimming, and slumber party), but---Thursday night they all came over to my house and we had a mini shower for the pregos--well, postpardum and prego then.
Caryn, Shannon B., Lauren, Ann, Wendi, Shannon M.
I must say, our crew is pretty experienced in the baby shower department, and it was nothing for these girls to come over, set up shop, and host a beautiful shower! :)
Here is the cute "Happy Baby" banner:

The spread---the flowers were the ones they sent me in the hospital.

Caryn and baby brother
Wendi and the little ladies man
They presented me with this adorable bag filled with all kinds of baby boy goodies.
Whoa--mama was still heavily on the meds---Vicodin was my best friend at this point--hence the sluggish, makeupless face! :)
The big gift was a new carseat cover for Clark. (I am SOOOOOO excited about this because even though our carrier is washed and clean, it's been in the attic for a few years and just needed a little spiffing up.)
The group all together. Thank you, girls, for coming over and making the effort to shower me 3 days postpardum! I appreciate you being flexible since Clark made his appearance early!! I am SO thankful for these friends---they truly enrich my life!! Love you all.
